Supporting Children and Youth Who Have Experienced Trauma
Trauma affects children and youth in different ways. As parents and caregivers, supporting your child through a traumatic experience can be challenging and scary. Join Dr. Julia Gibson, Psychiatrist at BC Children’s Hospital, as she discusses what trauma is, how to talk to your child about these experiences, what you can do as a parent or caregiver to support your child, and where and when to reach out for additional support.

Dr. Julia Gibson
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr. Gibson, Psychiatrist, completed her training in Vancouver including her subspecialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through BC Children's Hospital. She is part of the BC Children's Hospital outpatient psychiatry team and also part of the Richmond Early Childhood Mental Health team. Her areas of interest are trauma, psychotherapy, and advocacy. Outside of work Dr. Gibson enjoys spending time with her young children and being in nature.
